Good morning,
Part of our conversations at last month's Annual Alumni Council meeting included ways to keep up the interaction and discussion among the Council beyond that yearly meeting. In order to accomplish this, the Council voted to hold a second meeting during the year.
The next ASMS Alumni Council meeting will be Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Noon CT.
This will be a combination teleconference and online chat with no physical meeting location. During this meeting, the Council will receive updates on the various activities of the organization and conduct any needed business (quorum required). The details of the communication methods and agenda will be distributed as we get closer to the date.
Just as at the yearly conference, all Council members are asked to make plans to attend or designate a proxy to represent their Class. The Council at the meeting in July (both physical and by phone) expressed the desire to see full representation from every Class and a willingness to take appropriate steps to make that happen. This will be a great way for those to participate that may not have had the opportunity in July.

If anyone is interested, there is an #asms channel open on chat.freenode.net (default port, 6667).
Please note, this channel is not associated with the Alabama School, ASMS-F, ASMSAF, or AAASMS.
If you're new to Internet Relay Chat (IRC), there are some good free clients out there.
My personal favorite is IceChat. mIRC is very popular, but I think it's trialware.
